Today was the last day of our parish festival. Our committee has worked very hard on this for a year and their hard work certainly paid off. God seems to have given them a nod for all the extra work that they have done this past year in the form of five days of absolutely beautiful festival weather. This is the first time in eight years that we did not “lose” at least one night to rain. Some years we lose two nights. This year, we were able to have five full nights.
This time of year can be incredibly hot. Many times it is awfully stormy. This year, however, the weather has been perfect. It has been “cool” — 70’s to mid 80’s. That weather keeps tempers cooler so there are less grumbling, angry people. The cooler weather is also a boon to the food vendors as people tend to eat more. When it is hot, they quit buying food.
The crowds were good, the food was great, and the entertainment was phenomenal. Thanks to all who helped to pull off such a wonderful festival!
