Power Shut Downs

Shut downs, shut downs, and more shut downs.  I am getting so over this renovation project!  Each morning, our house goes down because they have to turn the generator off to service it.  It is only a half hour at the most; however, that puts a strain on our aging gas generator that runs our sump pumps and our furnace.  It also strains the battery back ups I have on computer equipment and on my cardiac pacemaker monitor.  That battery has been shot.  I have given up re-sending my pacemaker data in order to renew the med-link.  I am going to have to wait until we have full power, hook up a brand new battery back up, and set up my monitor once again.  In the meantime, I hope there are no critical events that my heart encounters because there will be no transmission of the data to the doctor.  Oy.

The good news is that it looks like — after a series of four days of sporadic shut downs to pull new wires and hook up to the new switch gear next Monday through Thursday — we will have our new electric service up and running by the end of next week.

That is rather critical since we cannot run any of our new equipment, especially our new furnaces, until we have the new service running.  It is going to get cold in the next couple of weeks and we are going to need the furnaces functional.

So, my new mantra is “One more week.  One more week.  One more week.”  I am beginning to feel like the little train that could:  “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.”

Will I survive this renovation project?  I think I can.  I think I can.  I think I can.  🙂
