“Are You Ready?”

The question most often asked of me these past couple of days is, “Are you ready yet?”  The question, of course, refers to whether or not I am all packed and ready to leave for my vacation on Sunday.

The quick answer is, “No.  Not one bit.”

Tomorrow, I will pack my bags.  Tonight, I am arranging some things, making sure my electronics (laptop, Kindle, hot spot, et cetera) are all charged to 100%.  But, if the car came for me right now to take me to the airport, I would have to reluctantly flag the car off as I do not have a lick of things packed or ready.

Of course, for me, it doesn’t take much time.  Tomorrow, I have to finish writing some Daily Reflections for the two week period that I will be gone.  In the afternoon, I will check in for my flight and, later, will hear confessions.  At 5:30 p.m., I will celebrate Mass.  After Mass, I will come back to the house and pack my suitcase and carry on.  When I go to bed tomorrow night, I will be ready.

Then, Sunday morning, I will go over to celebrate the 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. Masses and then wait for my ride to the airport that comes to pick me up at 9:15 a.m.  At that time, I will throw my stuff in the car, throw myself in the car, and declare myself “ready”.

This is all, by the way, the answer to the question “Are you ready” on the material level.

On the emotional level, I am ready.  Oh, I am SO ready!  🙂
