My driver’s license expires -after- the mandate to have a Real ID license, so I went to the license bureau to modify my license this afternoon. Imagine my surprise when I got there and saw fourteen numbers ahead of mine. Kudos to the Schererville Department of Motor Vehicles Branch for processing fourteen people in twenty minutes. They were just motoring through people this afternoon. (pun intended)
The cost is $9 and I will receive my Real ID license in 7-14 days. That license will expire in 2021, the same as my present license. But, this way, I will be able to board domestic flights without needing my passport.
