Today, we learned that the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, passed away. It made me sad to think that “another great” has passed away. She filled so many hearts with the power of her music. Thank for the memories, Aretha.
Also, today is the twenty-sixth anniversary of the death of another queen in my life: my maternal grandmother. I miss her dearly. She was a gentle, loving person and the quintessential grandmother. I felt so fortunate to have had known her for so long in my life (I was thirty-five when she died) and look forward to seeing her and my grandfather again.
