Transatlantic – Day Twelve

Don’t cry for me, Argentina . . . the truth is, I’m ready to go home. (A liberal take off of Evita’s great song!)  Yes, folks, I’m ready to go home.  I guess the sight of land did it to me today.  When I woke up and saw Port Canaveral, I thought to myself, “Whelp, there goes that….”  I knew that home was a day away and I resolved myself to that fact.

Truth is, I’m ready.  This vacation has been wonderfully refreshing.  The peace and calm will probably be sucked right out of me in two days back at the ranch; but, c’est la vie!  🙂

Today didn’t dawn on the ocean.  It dawned on land.

After breakfast, we went through immigration and passport control.  Let me tell you, it was a fiasco.  The captain apologized as we were getting ready to leave.  It was a real mess.  But, tomorrow in Miami should be really smooth sailing because all the customs hassles have already been accomplished.  All we have to do is get off the ship, collect our luggage, and move on out to our buses.

I was lucky enough to be delayed only an hour and a half before the bus took off for the Kennedy Space Center.  Instead of six hours there, we had more like three and a half.  But I got a lot of pictures and will only share a couple with you.  Needless to say, I’m in love with the Atlantis space shuttle (look for ALL my pictures of it on Facebook).

So, my vacation winds down.  I’ve packed my luggage and put it outside for the porters to take downstairs later tonight.  I’ll retrieve it tomorrow morning once I get off the ship and into the terminal.  I’ve got my carry-on bag and my meds with me along with my wallet and ID.  All I need to do is sign off and hit the sack.

Oh, yes.  I also have breakfast ready.  I’ve learned not to go to the restaurants the morning of departure.  They are a zoo.  So, when I came back from my shore excursion to the Kennedy Space Center, I went to Sorrento’s and got myself some pizza and brought it up to my room and put it in my fridge.  I’ll have cold pizza for breakfast tomorrow morning in the privacy of my stateroom and not worry about the crowds at the restaurants!

So, my friends, this is my vacation.  I may or may not write tomorrow as I will be getting back to the parish late in the evening and will probably just drop into bed.  Thankfully, Fr. Andrew has the Saturday morning Mass, so I will be able to sleep in.  I will try to write tomorrow but, if not, will do so Sunday.

I hope you enjoyed following along on my cruise.  If you ever have the chance, take a cruise on an Oasis class ship on Royal Caribbean.  They are incredibly awesome!

g’night, all.  Sweet dreams.
