Mariner Of The Seas Bahamas Cruise – Day One

Today was a wonderfully marvelous day while at the same time being icky as all get out!

It began with me being anxious to catch the bus from Orlando International Airport to Port Canaveral.  I checked out of my hotel room and was downstairs at the Royal Caribbean desk at 8:00 a.m.  The only thing was that the bus would not come and load until 10:15 a.m. and depart for Port Canaveral at 10:30 a.m.  Okay, I sat and read my Kindle.  No harm, no foul.

When we got outside, I found out what was foul.  I had totally forgotten the thing that I hate the most about Florida.  I always say that it is the horrible heat/humidity.  Actually, it’s the accursed love bugs.  They were everywhere . . . and I do mean everywhere.  There were crashing into the bus windshield so hard that it sounded like rain.  You should have seen the front of the bus by the time we reached the port!

When we got out of the bus, we were swarmed by the bugs.  Horrible.  They don’t bite.  They’re just a huge nuisance.  A half hour before our muster drill, they announced that we were going to hold the drill inside the ship because of the nuisance of the bugs.  I was really glad that they did that.

This is what it looked like outside on the pool deck:

Dinner tonight was absolutely fantastic.  Mushroom soup, shrimp cocktail, and rare prime rib.

After dinner, I went to the ice show.  What a performance!!!  You have to go to my Facebook page to see all my pictures.

Now, I’m winding down for the night.  It’s 10:00 p.m. here, 8:30 p.m. Munster time.  I’ve had an eventful day and a full day and am ready for the sack.

Tomorrow is a sea day.  I will most likely go around the ship and take lots of pictures.  This is a really beautiful ship and very different from any other Royal Caribbean ship I have sailed.  I have never been on the Voyager class of ships before.  Initial impressions are very positive.

G’night, friends.  See you tomorrow.
