Waterlogged

Well, as if the rains have not been enough, I had a different problem earlier today.

I went to the Pastoral Center after the 6:30 a.m. Mass as I had appointments all morning followed by an 11:30 a.m. Mass.  After Mass, we were filing out of the chapel and the receptionist said, “If you have to use the restroom, do it now.  They’re getting ready to turn off the water!”  It appears that a water line broke in one of the restroom walls and the water had to be shut off to the building so that the wall could be opened, the pipe isolated and repaired.

What’s a brand new boss to do?  I told everyone that they could go home.  I had to remain for a couple of hours because I had an important conference call coming in at 2:00 p.m.  I left after the call, got to the parish about 3:30 p.m. and made a beeline for our restroom.  🙂

Our heroic newspaper staff remained in the building because they were on a deadline.  They stated that they would be making trips across the street to the gas station.  Not ideal; but, what can you do?

Heat, rain, water in the buildings, so much fun.

Tomorrow, I have the 6:30 a.m. Mass and then am being picked up to go to North Judson to bury one of our long-retired priests.  Kindly pray for all those who served the diocese as bishop, priest, or deacon and who have been called home to their eternal reward.
