A Little Over Two Down

A little over two months ago, I said “yes” when asked to become the administrator of the diocese.  I think to myself more often that not, if I knew then what I know now, would I have answered the same?  There is a part of me that wants nothing more than to be an obedient son of Christ and His Church. Because of that, I have said yes to all my assignments in the past, no matter where they may have led me.

There is another part of me that has always wanted to say “no”. I guess that’s probably not too surprising.  I’m sure that’s in each and every one of us.  It is, isn’t it?  I’m not alone in this, am I?  🙂

These two months has been a real odyssey and a real eye-opener.  It has given me a glimpse into the “other” side of the Church.  I see what bishops have to deal with on a regular basis.  Their job is difficult and, often, thankless.  Yet, we need them so desperately.

Which brings me to a point: please pray that we get a bishop soon.  Having an administrator in the diocese is one thing and I can do most of what a bishop can do.  However, having a bishop provides the diocese with stability as it gives us all a shepherd.

Please, dear Lord, give us one soon!

  1. Hi, Father…
No, you are not alone! I could never say “yes” to everything offered.
But I give you ‘thanks’ for saying “yes”! God has a plan… I’m always reminded. I try to remember that!
