Labor Day

Today was Labor Day.  It began nice and slow for me.  Usually, I have to get up at 4:15 a.m. on Mondays to get ready for the 6:30 a.m. Mass.  Today, however, Mass was not until 9:00 a.m.  I “slept in” until 6:00 a.m. and went over to the church to open up at 7:00 a.m.

After I opened, I went to the office and got some work done.  After the 9:00 a.m. Mass, Deacon Joe and Joyce took Fr. Declan and me to breakfast.  We had to wait a while for a seat and our breakfast took thirty-five minutes to get to the table.  The waitress was not very efficient either; but, it was a holiday and we didn’t have anywhere to go.

After we got back, Fr. Declan took off to visit friends for the holiday and I labored on Labor Day.  That is to say, I did my laundry. 🙂

It’s been a casual, quiet day and one, I must admit, that I really needed after the hustle and bustle of the past several weeks.  Tomorrow is back to business but today was a nice break.

Speaking of breaks, the people in the Bahamas do not seem to be getting any breaks at all as Hurricane Dorian has paused over them.  Please keep them in your prayers!
