Not Nekkid Anymore

If you followed my blog or my Facebook page while I was at Disney a few weeks ago, you will have seen me write that I felt “nekkid” over there after day two.  My wristwatch — yes, I am a dinosaur and I use a wristwatch — went blank one morning as the battery died.

Yesterday, I was able to get to the local jewelry store and replace the battery.  That was just half the solution.  You see, I have a radio-controlled watch.  Once the new battery was placed inside the casing, I had to wait for the my wristwatch to “find” the radio signal and set itself.

I thought that it would be relatively quick.  I could not have been more wrong.  When I went to bed last night, the watch was still displaying –:–.  When I came back from the Pastoral Center this afternoon, though, the date/time were displaying and all is back in order.  Woo Hoo.  Naked no more!

I turned in my final article for our diocesan newspaper this morning.  It will appear in the February 2nd edition of the paper.  The paper is moving to an every-other-week publication so the next paper, February 16th, will have a column from the new bishop.

I wrote a “this is what I learned” column.  I am grateful for the chance that I had, the last eight months, to be exposed to the job of a bishop.  It makes my respect for them that much greater.  As much as I respect them, though, I cannot wait for February 11th.  That is when we ordain the new bishop and that is the day I officially end my time as diocesan administrator.  Ah.  “Just to be a pastor” once again.
