The Lake County Sheriff, Oscar Martinez Jr., has stated that there are people going to homes claiming that they must administer coronavirus tests on everyone in the household. Do not let them in!
The Lake County Health Department is not sending representatives to test residents at their homes. No one can be tested without an order from their doctor. If anyone attempts to come to your home offering an in-home COVID-19 test, call 911.
Remember that scammers have a field day in times like this. They play on people’s anxiety and confusion. They will attempt to enter homes in order to rob people or call them on the phone to get their credit card number for a “donation” to a charitable cause.
Never give personal information over the phone unless you are absolutely sure who the person is to whom you are speaking and, even better, that you were the one who initiated the call.
