Tomorrow morning at Holy Angels Cathedral, Deacon Jacob McDaniel will be ordained a priest for the Diocese of Gary. Ordinations are always very emotional and exciting events. Tomorrow is going to be so very different because of the pandemic and the limit on the number of people that can attend. He will never forget his ordination year, that’s for sure.
I still remember the ordination of some men two years ahead of me. I was singing in the choir at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary and Cardinal Cody stopped the Mass to inform all in attendance that Pope John Paul II had just been shot in an assassination attempt Those are the kinds of things you remember forever.
Anyway, I ask you to join me in praying for Deacon Jacob as he prepares for his ordination tomorrow that the Holy Spirit may come upon him and prepare him for his ordained ministry to the people of God in our diocese.
