Hell’s Furnace Room

Good Lord!  When I walked out of the rectory this afternoon to go to the church to prepare for afternoon confessions and evening Mass, I thought I stepped into the furnace room in hell.  It was so ungodly hot out there.  After Mass, when I stepped out of the office door to go back to the house, my glasses immediately fogged because of the heat and humidity.  I don’t know what the “official” temperature was.  I saw anywhere from 101 to 107 degree heat indexes being reported.

If any of you are going to be out and about tomorrow, please be careful because it is still supposed to be extremely hot.

Kindly keep me in your prayers.  I’ll be driving in that heat.  Tomorrow, after my 6:30 and 8:00 a.m. Masses, I will be leaving for Covington, Kentucky for a week’s private retreat.  I haven’t been away from the parish since my vacation at the beginning of January.  Since then, much has changed and there has been a lot of work going on through the pandemic.  I will be back at the parish Friday night.

I fully intend to write a brief blog post each evening as I have been wont to do; so, hopefully, I’ll see you tomorrow night. 🙂
