There really appears to be very little civility any more. If you hang out on social media for even a brief amount of time, you can see attack after attack taking place. There is no civil discourse. There is no discussing the facts. There is merely mudslinging and blame. It used to be that arguments were “ad rem”, to the thing. Now, arguments are “ad hominem” or against the person.
If someone disagrees with another, they call that person names and blame the person for all sorts of things imaginable and, sometimes, unimaginable. It’s really sad how low many people in our society have seemed to stoop.
Please join me in the naive ol’ hope that people can still change for the better, that civil discourse can return, and that people will once again discuss topics rather than attack individuals.
