Today is JRR Tolkien’s 129th birthday — January 3, 1892
I fell in love with his writings when I was introduced to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings as a freshman in high school. One of my good friends gave me The Hobbit and told me that I ought to read it. He had the book memorized and used to quote passages from it all the time. I thought, “What the heck” and read it.
I was hooked and have read that genre avidly from that time on. Thanks, Steve, for introducing me to this great author. Happy Birthday, Mr. Tolkien!
