Newly-ordained Bishop Robert J. McClory joyfully displays the papal bull that installed him as the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gary on the day of his ordination one year ago today, February 11, 2020. On that day, he became the fifth bishop of our diocese.
His arrival was filled with joy and with all sorts of hopes and dreams for our future. Many of his plans, I am sure, were put on hold because of the present pandemic. Funerals of priests and the Chrism Mass were all celebrated with very few people present. Even now, there are restrictions on gatherings as well as social distance mandates. But that doesn’t dampen our hope for the future.
