First Confession This Morning

Congratulations to the third grade students of our parish school who made their First Confession after the 8:30 a.m. Mass this morning. This was not the “ideal” way to do it but, because of the pandemic, we could not have a combined service for our school students and the students in the Religious Education program.

Many of the students’ parents came to the morning Mass and then stayed afterwards to see their children go to confession.  After everyone was finished, we congratulated the students and then allowed them to go to their families for congratulation hugs.

Our Religious Education students will be going to confession on the Saturdays of Lent and informing the priests that they are celebrating their First Confession.  They will also tell their teacher so that we can put the appropriate date in the sacramental register.

The next sacrament that the children will celebrate will be First Holy Communion.  Children grow up so fast.  I remember when the kids were baptized newborns.  I can only imagine how their parents must feel watching their children growing up in front of them. 🙂

Congratulations, students!  Job well done.
