I hope that I’m not jinxing us. Today was the first really nice day that we have had in a while. No rain, sunshine, and breezy. Some people might say that the breeze was a bit much but I say that it has really helped to dry things off a bit. The weather is supposed to be nice until next Wednesday (July 7th) when we have storms again. I’ll take the dry off time.
On a separate note, I’m really excited about a purchase that I am planning to make. I found a listing for a condo here in Munster last Friday, June 26th. It had been posted on the market for sixteen minutes when I saw it. I was getting ready for my afternoon stint working at our festival but I called my realtor to see if we could possibly see it. She asked when. I asked if she could meet me right away. This was at 2:15 p.m.
Well, at 3:00 p.m., we were at the condo. The lockbox for the keys was placed ten minutes before we arrived and we were the first ones to view the place. I fell in love. 🙂 It is a two bed, two bath condo, top floor corner unit. It has an underground parking garage and elevators to all the floors. The building is only twenty-one years old and the unit is 1,588 sq/ft. It’s perfect.
My realtor communicated my offer at that time and then I went to my 4:00 p.m. time at the festival. At 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, I found out that my offer was accepted. So now, I’m in the process of the mortgage application. That should be no problem because I had been approved for a purchase several months ago but the potential purchase fell through when the appraisal came back way short of the asking price. The owners were not willing to drop their asking price one iota so I backed out of the purchase.
You might ask why I’m buying a condo. Well, it will be my retirement home when I am allowed to retire in five years. Until then, it will be a place that I can go to on my days off as well as if I take a stay-at-home vacation or even for the week of festival next year (we always stay at a local hotel during festival because the house shakes from the noise made by the bands).
I had previously owned a one bedroom condo in Michigan City but sold it a few years ago as it was difficult to get out there in bad weather and was an hour away so I could never really just drop by. This one will be local, less that three minutes away, and will be nice and available for me and a place that family or friends can stay when coming in to town to visit.
