Today was a quiet day in many ways, even as it was filled with action. I was up super early to open the church building and then went back to sleep for an hour or so before coming back over at 7:00 a.m. to prepare for the 8:30 a.m. Mass. After that Mass, the Advent wreaths were “retired” from the church and I made a mess for myself. (I moved one of the wreaths too soon and got wax all over my vestment. sigh)
This afternoon, I took a nap before going back over at 3:30 p.m. to open the church and prepare for the 5:30 p.m. Vigil Mass of Christmas. After Mass, I locked the church and went back to the house for another nap. I got up at 9:45 p.m. and came back over to the church to unlock and set up for the Midnight Mass of Christmas.
After the Midnight Mass, I will go over to the house again to get another three hour nap before coming back over to open the church for the first Masses of Christmas in the morning. I’m tired; but, it’s a “good tired” because it’s for the celebration of Jesus’ birthday. If I can’t go all out for that, something’s wrong. 🙂
So, as I sit in my office getting ready for Midnight Mass, I pause to write this blog entry and to wish you a very Merry Christmas full of the peace and joy that only the Lord can bring.
