So, what do we know about what's going on in my mouth?
So far, a whole lot of nothing!
The dentist, this morning, acknowledged that my lower right jaw was swollen. However, there was no overt sign of anything wrong. He tapped on my teeth with a metal instrument and that brought no noticeable pain. The gum line was not reddened. There was no obvious sing of infection. An x-ray showed no cavity or abscess. He was quick to say that didn't mean I didn't have an infection, however, but that one may be beginning.
He is concerned, as well, about my recent hip replacements and so he ordered antibiotics for me so that I could take them in case there is an infection going on.
At the same time, he suspects a lower right tooth that had been crowned several years ago.
He referred me to an endodontic specialist in Merrillville. I see him this coming Friday at 7:30 a.m. They will try to determine if there is something going on with the nerve in that tooth. Methinks I am going to be having my first root canal...
So, I took my day off after the dentist appointment and have been taking my antibiotics here in Michigan City as well as taking Tylenol every four hours just to keep the pain down to a somewhat manageable throb. I'm hoping to get some answers Friday.
