Yesterday I had the opportunity to take my day off. I decided to do what I have not had a chance to do in a long time -- I spent the day vegging out! As part of my required vegging, I watched TV. And while channel surfing, I came upon a James Bond movie.Watching the movie got me to thinking about the comparisons between 007 and Jesus Christ.
James Bond had all sorts of flashy devices made for him by Q. He had explosive devices, super cars, and an array of offensive and defensive weapons.
Jesus Christ did not need flashy devices. Without any help at all he could cure the sick and raise the dead.
Whenever James Bond was around, someone ended up dying.
Whenever Jesus was around, there was a great chance that someone's live was going to be restored.
James Bond had to go on mission after mission after mission and his world was still not safe.
Jesus went on one mission: to save His people from suffering and death. And His one moment of dying on the cross and rising to New Life destroyed sin and death. There is no need for him to come back for mission after mission after mission.
All things totaled and it would be Jesus Christ: 183 / James Bond: 0
Jesus Christ IS the best.
