I began this blog a couple of years ago with a pledge to write daily. Some of the days have been easy to write, some have been more difficult. Some days have contained a lot of information or a packed message, other days perhaps nothing more than filler and fluff until the next day.
I think that is the way of daily writing for blogs. At least, I hope that is normal.
A couple of weeks ago, I decided to "spice up" the blog a bit.
It all began by mistake.
I was modifying the appearance of the blog and I changed templates. In the process, I began to modify the template.
I do not know what I did, but, somehow, I destroyed the header. I tried and tried to get it back. Then, when that didn't work, I tried to create a "cheat" around it.
I thought I had accomplished my job until I found out that the header was moving from side to side, depending upon the size and resolution of the monitor being used.
Well, that would do no good.
So, I began playing some more.
I found a "sidebar" plugin that could be used with my blogging software (Serendipity) and I moved the title over to the side. That took care of the header problem.
Then, yesterday, since I was not able to get away from the parish for my day off, when I had some time in the afternoon, I began playing with other components on the sidebars.
I discovered widgets!
So I added widgets for Catholic News Service, AccuWeather, Associate Press News Headlines, and a counter that supplies information about the visitors to the blog.
And that is where the "Gawrsh" comes in.
I was surprised to see visitors from different parts of the United States. Even more so, I was really surprised to see visitors from Canada, England, and India!
Technology is really a wonderful thing and it enables people to communicate their thoughts and feelings across vast distances.
So, to all of you who drop in to read my blog, I say thank you. I hope that I give you something to think about from time to time.
And I wanted to let you know that you have given me a fair amount of excitement as well as humility to know that there are people from "all over" dropping in to check out My Daily Musings.
God bless you all!
"Considering" and "doing" are two different things!
I have been considering a makeover for the parish and school's pages for a while now. I just cannot decide what kind of layout I want to use. It will also take much more time than the changes in the blog took to accomplish.
