The view from the balcony this morning at port in Halifax was stupendous!
When I got off the ship, I went to the terminal and discovered a lot of shops. I browsed around, looking for snacks to purchase for the crew. At the end of the terminal was a nut shack and I sampled some of the nuts. They were really good and I decided that I would get some after exploring the port a bit.
I asked the young man at the stand if there were shops outside that offered snack items and he enthusiastically suggested some of them “on the boardwalk”. He said that it was only about a five minute walk to get to the shops. I told him I was going out and that I would be back to purchase some of the nuts.

When I got back to the terminal, I went to the nut stand, saw the guy, and asked him how old he was. He looked at me and said, “What?” I asked him again how old he was. He said that he was 19 years old. I then said to him, “For the record, a 5 minute for a 19 year old is a hell of a lot different than a 5 minute walk for a 70 year old.” He looked at me and said, “I’ll buy that” and laughed. Then he said, “Sorry.” I laughed and said it was no problem but it was no five minute walk.
Then I purchased nuts for the crew. I had already picked up maple candy for the crew as well so I went back aboard and enjoy the ship until we left port.
As we left port, the captain got on the intercom to let us know that the weather is going to be clear enough for us to port at St. John, New Brunswick tomorrow but that it might not be an overnight as we may leave tomorrow night and begin our journey back toward Newark ahead of the storm. Everyone will have to be on board by 9:00 p.m. tomorrow in case they decide they have to leave port a day early.
The captain also said that we are leaving some people behind in Halifax as they didn’t get back to the ship in time. The captain said that they will take a bus to St. John and meet the ship there tomorrow.
When I came back from the evening show, I went out to my balcony to see what was out there. It has been SO easy to pray on the balcony, especially at night, on this cruise with sights like this.
So, day done, pray done, and now blog entry done, I’m done.
