A New Year

Liturgically, the Roman Catholic Church began a new year today with the celebration of the First Sunday of Advent.  Looking back and looking ahead is always a part of our lives, isn’t it?  Sometimes, we look back with regret.  Sometimes, we look back with shame.  Sometimes, we look back in consternation.  Still other times, we look back and smile, grateful for the memories.

Those memories — good and bad — formed us and made us who we are today.  They also prod us into who and what we are to become.

As you look back at your earlier days, don’t become too despondent or morose.  There’s always something better coming.  Hang on to that!
