Malaga. Ah, Malaga!
The weather today was perfect. Even one of the locals said that they have been baking in an oven for a couple of weeks. Today was low humidity and the temp was only around 80 with a breeze. It actually felt refreshing outside. I got extra balcony time in. 🙂
Same routine as the past few days: morning Mass, breakfast, read, lunch, prowl the ship, read, dinner, show. Today, however, I -did- get off the ship. Technically, at least. I badged out and had to badge back in but never made it past security. In the Malaga Cruise Terminal, there is a HUGE duty-free store for all sorts of things. A lot of people made a beeline to the cigarettes or liquor. Me? I made a beeline to the candy section.
I loaded up on four sets of candy so that over the next eight days (that’ll be every other day), I’ll give a set of candy to my cabin attendant, main dining room servers, and head waiter. I also bought a few canisters of truffles and brought them to Guests Services. They have been taking a real beating by whiny entitled adults. Some of the guests have been complaining about everything. If they saw Jesus raise Lazarus from the dead, they would complain about the money that was wasted in his funeral expenses. Sheesh.
So, anyway, I let the people at the counter know that I knew, and a lot of other guests knew, how much of a beating they have been taking and that I wanted them to know how professional they have been and how appreciated they are for their hard work. They really appreciated it.

Tomorrow is our last port stop. We will be at Cadiz, Spain. Some people will take shore excursions into Seville, Spain. I will take a “foot excursion” 🙂 into Cadiz if it’s a nice day. Cadiz is an old city and the port is actually right at their downtown. It’s a five minute walk from the ship to the shops. We arrive at 8:30 a.m. and all aboard is 5:30 p.m.
After that, it’s all sea days to home.
Now, don’t laugh at me. I also have plans at noon tomorrow. I have an appointment at the “Future Cruise” desk. At the present time, Royal Caribbean is running a “double points” special. Points are what make up our loyalty. Now, on this thirteen day cruise, I am earning 26 points because I get double points for booking as a solo (and I pay almost 200% fare). With the special, any cruise booked before the end of July and taken before the end of April 2027, we earn double points. So I am going to book a seven day cruise in November of this year to the Eastern Caribbean on Allure of the Seas. That will earn me 14 points for booking as a solo. And then, with the special, I will double that so I will get twenty-eight points for a seven day sailing. Not shabby at all!
