It’s October 1st.
That may not mean much to you; but, to me, it means we get our church back! For the past month, the contractors have been working on the renovation in our church building, specifically in the foyers and the tunnels as well as renovating the bathrooms.
The tunnel work is complete and a couple of minor things need to be done in the chapel area. The bathrooms will be complete by the end of this week. We will be able to begin using the church again tomorrow, though, and I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about that.
The past four weekends, Mass has taken place in the school gym. We have hurriedly put the gym together after the last volleyball game Saturday afternoon and then hurriedly taken down all the Mass trappings after the Noon Mass for Sunday afternoon volleyball. That has made for a nerve-wracking time for a lot of people and I am glad that shuffling is over.
I’m just hoping that the long-range forecast is correct as we do not have air conditioning in the church yet. We have the ability to bring in outside air so we need it to remain cool. Tomorrow and Tuesday are supposed to be in the low 80’s but, after that, it should cool down again beginning Wednesday.
By the end of October, the new furnaces will be functioning and providing heat to the buildings. By the end of November, the air conditioning component should be on line.
All I can say is, “Yippee!” 🙂
