Saying Our Farewells

It’s the last full day of retreat and we did our farewell “last supper” at The Overlook restaurant in Leavenworth, IN.  Now, I’m just sitting in my room getting ready for prayer, reflection, and a plan of attack for tomorrow.  The biggest question on my mind is: do I pack tonight or tomorrow?

I think tomorrow morning is going to win.

After breakfast, between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m., we will abandon ship here at the Guesthouse and begin our journey back home.  We time it so that we hit Terre Haute around lunchtime.  That’s a nice halfway break for us and then we drive the rest of the way home.

It will be good to get home again but it was also good being down here for retreat this week.  There’s something to be said for withdrawing from the world for a week to do absolutely nothing except pray and reflect.

I was sharing with the retreat staff that this was a special retreat for me as this was the last time I will be down here as an active member of the presbyterate of the diocese.  Next year, I will be a retired priest coming down for retreat.

It’s getting real. 🙂

Prayers for all of you again tonight.  Kindly pray for Fr. Brian and me tomorrow as we drive back home that we have good weather and safe roadways.
