The diocese is saying goodbye to two people I’ve considered friends through the years.
This afternoon, the Rite of Reception of the Body for Fr. Joe Pawlowski takes place at St. Paul’s in Valparaiso. The funeral is tomorrow morning. I have meetings this afternoon/evening that I cannot change and an all-school Mass tomorrow morning where the 8th grade will make their commitment for Confirmation and, after Mass, the Student Council will be inducted.
This Thursday, the Rite of Reception of the Body will take place for Fr. Pat Kalich and his funeral will be Friday at St. Mary’s in Crown Point. However, I am leaving Wednesday morning for my vacation and will not be here.
We cannot always be together physically but we can always be together in spirit. Though I can’t personally attend either person’s events, I can be there in thought and prayer.
Fare thee well, Joe and PK. You were outstanding men and priests and I learned much from you through the years. ♥
