Can’t Wait For Sleep

Today was a “regular” kind of Saturday.  At least, at first.  I went over to the office in the morning and did some preliminary work on next Sunday’s Pastor’s Page for the bulletin.  I also set things up for the evening Mass.

Fr. Declan and I went to lunch with Fr. Ted Mauch around 11:15 a.m.  Fr. Ted had an afternoon wedding, so we ate a little early.

When we got back to the parish, I had afternoon confessions and the evening Mass.  After Mass, I was scheduled to go to our festival party.  Every year, a month or so after the festival, we gather for dinner to celebrate a season accomplished.

Instead of the festival, I had to come back to the rectory and return a couple of phone calls for “diocesan stuff”.  This “second job” that I have has a lot of unpredictability to it.  I’m beginning to see more and more the headaches that bishops get from certain situations.  When we finally get a new bishop, I could write a book about the things that I have had to deal with.  Well, I would write a book — if I could talk about the things.  But I can’t.  So I won’t.

Ah, me.  Maybe I’ll just go to bed.  I have the early two Masses tomorrow.

g’night, world
