This morning began way too early. When I went to bed last night, I was totally preoccupied and I could not sleep. I was up at 11:00 p.m., 1:15 a.m., and 2:30 a.m. before I fell fast asleep only to be awakened rather rudely by my alarm clock at 4:15 a.m.
I made it groggily through the 6:30 a.m. Mass. After Mass, I seemed to catch a second wind and that got me through the 8:00 a.m. Mass. At 10:00 a.m., I left for Southlake Mall and Visionworks. I needed my eyes refracted for new glasses. There was enough change in one of my eyes to warrant new glasses. On “special”, my glasses are going to run me a little under $800. Yeouch.
I’m used to that, though, because my eyes are very bad and the lenses are very complicated. Unlike other people who get their glasses almost overnight, I generally have to wait three or four weeks before mine come in. The company committed to getting them in at the three week mark; however, I won’t hold my breath. The last time I got glasses, almost three years ago, the glasses came in to the business and had to be sent back because they were manufactured to the wrong specification.
It’ll be nice to see things more clearly again. I’m having a bit of a problem seeing at a distance and, as one eye is weaker, I’m getting a bit of a headache from the eye strain.
I won’t think of it as being broke, though. My aunt left me a bit of an inheritance; so, I will consider the new glasses a gift from my aunt. Thank you, Auntie Connie!
