I had the 6:30 and Noon Masses today. After the Noon Mass, I had to wait around until two families exited the church so I could lock and alarm. When that was finished, at 1:55 p.m., I ran to the house and met some friends that came over. We left at 2:00 p.m. for a late lunch/early dinner in Chinatown.
I was fearful about the traffic, what with a Cubs game today as well as Lollapalooza taking place in Chicago. The roads were running very smooth going into the city. Coming out was another story; but, that wouldn’t be faced for a few hours.
We got to Evergreen restaurant at 3:00 p.m. and ate pretty much non-stop until 5:00 p.m. Let’s see if I can remember (it’s kind of hard with the food coma I have going on). We had hot tea, pork barley soup, white rice, chicken, jalapeno shrimp, beef chow fun, fried rice, barbecue pork tenderloin, steamed white fish with vegetables, greens with garlic, pork egg foo yung, and, for dessert, taro with tapioca along with mango jello shaped like a fish.
I think I forgot something. Needless to say, I’m stuffed. I brought leftovers back with me as did most of us. I also brought some buns back from a bakery down the street: hot dog stuffed bun, ham and egg stuffed bun, and barbecue pork stuffed bun. They nuke in thirty seconds and are absolutely fantastic breakfasts or lunches.
The drive back home was just as it was going in. We did hit a pocket of congestion for a brief period and slowed down to about 35 mpg; but, the traffic kept moving. When we got into Indiana, 80/94 was turning into a parking lot just past our Calumet Avenue exit. We had no delays at all. What a day.
So, now, I am going to try to get some bulletin work done and then hit the sack. Tomorrow’s another day and another story.
