I’m All Right

Those of you worried about me, I’m all right.  I’m just stressing out because the roofing project is behind schedule and school begins in two weeks.  We will have an all-school Mass on August 15th for the Holy Day but, after that, will no be able to have school Masses in the church for close to two months.  We are planning options, such as an all-school Mass in the school gymnasium once a week and prayer services in the individual classrooms.

When people of my generation get stressed, our past comes back in difficult ways.  After all…

After we survived the baking sheets and, I might add, in shorts, we often spun out on the instrument of torture if not downright death.

And if we did not spin off and dislocate shoulders or elbows or break knees or feet, we were free to climb on monkey bars.

Oh yes, classmates would shame you to go higher . . . higher . . . higher . . . all the while knowing that we were petrified of heights.

So, if you wonder why I’m sometime stressed out, consider my past and imagine where I fit in all of that.
