A Very Strange Day

Today was a very strange day for me.  It followed my day off that was pretty much a day off until late afternoon when I came back to the rectory and got ready to go to Dyer for a funeral service for a friend and former parishioner from the time I was at St. Maria Goretti in Dyer.

I have known Joe since my time there.  He has always been a staunch Catholic, a defender of the faith, a lover of Mary, and a devoted Knight of Columbus.  His wife, Cheryl, has also been a firm believer.

When I came back from the service and all day today, I have been remembering people I have known throughout the years who have passed away.  The older you get, the more those numbers stack up.  That has what has made this day a bit “strange”.  Many memories.

Rest in peace, Joe . . . and all you others who I have known.
