Christmas Peace

The church looked so peaceful for Christmas.  You could feel the presence of the Lord throughout the Masses through the music playing, the songs being sung, and the people praying.  Christmas is about beauty, light, and peace.

Christmas can be grueling as well.  People work for hours to prepare a meal for guests.  Others work cleaning the house so that everything is presentable.

It’s no different in the church.

Many people worked to make sure that the space was decorated so wondrously.  Others rehearsed the music/songs so that they would flow with grace and dignity.  When it is all over, a lot of us want nothing more than to be able to rest after many hours on point.

My first Mass for Christmas was yesterday at 5:30 p.m., the Christmas Vigil.  Then I had the Midnight Mass of Christmas.  I was in church at 4:30 a.m. to open the building and in my office at 6:15 a.m. in case anything came up.  I celebrated the 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon Masses and after they were done, locked and alarmed the church and went to the house to eat lunch and rest.  I could hear my recliner calling me.  🙂

It’s going to be early to bed tonight and then back to work tomorrow.

Merry Christmas, all.  I hope they day brought you much peace, joy, and happiness.
