My Christmas Peace Was Today

Yesterday, I wrote about Christmas Peace.

Today, I let you know that I found my own peace . . . by taking the day off.

Since I didn’t have my day off this week (my day off is Wednesday and that was Christmas Eve) nor did I get the two holiday days we gave our staff, I thought, “What the heck.  I’m taking today to myself.”

So, after the morning 8:30 a.m. Mass, I packed up the car with some Christmas presents that I received that were for the condo and went to my condo to spend a few hours.  I unboxed the items and put them up or away.

Makes me want to move in that much sooner.  🙂

Actually, the place is looking and feeling more and more like home.  When I swung by the parish office mid-afternoon, I found a letter from the bishop that makes wanting to move in that much more exciting.  The bishop stated that he had received my letter requesting senior priest status and, in accord with the provisions of the diocese for such requests, he was writing to inform me that my request was accepted and granted for July 1, 2026.  He instructed me to contact the Human Resources office of the diocese to take care of the appropriate paperwork so that my retirement benefits kick in at that time.

As fast as time is flying, July will be here before I know it.
