This evening after the 5:30 p.m. (and again tomorrow after all the Masses), I went to the cafeteria/gym of our school for a “farewell reception”. There, parishioners are being given a chance to say goodbye to me personally.
I can already tell that this is going to be a long and physically/ emotionally exhausting weekend as so many people came out tonight to say goodbye.
You know, or maybe you don’t, I have been at this parish for twenty-three years. During that time, I have had an opportunity to get close to a lot of people. Saying goodbye, even though I will have opportunities to see them on many occasions, is really difficult to do. It pulls at the ol’ heartstrings. That’s just God’s way of saying that they have truly become my family.
Thank you to those who came out tonight. It has been an honor to have been able to serve you all these years! ♥
