Soon To Be A Munster Resident

I know, I know . . . I -am- a Munster resident.  That’s true.  I’m a resident because of my job.  I’m a Roman Catholic Priest and am assigned to St. Thomas More in Munster.  I have been here for eighteen years now.  I have been a priest for thirty-eight years and have five more years before my retirement.  At that time, I will be able to move anywhere I want because I will no longer be attached to a parish.

I have come to fall in love with the people and the community that calls itself Munster, Indiana and, because of that, I am in the process of purchasing a condo in Munster.  I will be able to use it for days off and times that I take a “staycation” instead of going away somewhere.  I will also be able to stay at my own place next June during our annual festival rather than have to pay for an extended stay at the local hotel.

Best of all, when I retire, I will have a place to go and to call home.  That should all begin to take place within the next week and a half or so.  That is when I should close on the condo.  Then, I will have to have some work done on it such as replacing the water heater, air conditioning, and furnace.  I may replace the carpet as well and then order furniture for the place.

That should extend over the next several months as purchases for sofas, beds, or recliners take four to six months to fulfill at the present time.  By the end of the year, I should have a place that looks like home.

I have to admit that I am very excited about the prospect of being a local homeowner.  I’ve lived/worked in Munster and will probably do so for the next five years until retirement.  Then, I’ll live/retire in Munster. 🙂
