This afternoon, SpaceX launched their new Falcon Heavy rocket. The two side boosters separated as scheduled and landed simultaneously on their return. It was amazing to watch.
Then, once out in space, the cover of the rocket was opened and the world was treated to a different kind of site: a Tesla car on the top of the rocket with a mannequin nicknamed Starman behind the wheel with the caption “Don’t Panic” on the dashboard.
Thus far, the mannequin and the car are still rocketing toward Mars. There appears to be no damage done (yet) to the car exposed to deep space. Only time will tell as it continues its journey.
Congratulations, SpaceX, on such a tremendous launch. Good luck as the mission continues.
And, Starman: rocket on! 🙂
