The Strife Is O’er, The Battle Done

The older I get, the harder Holy Week is on me.  Holy Week, for priests and deacons as well as musicians, is a series of marathons that can take a lot out of you.  Today, after the 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon Masses, I locked and alarmed the church and then came back to the rectory and collapsed.  Utterly collapsed.  I’m dog-tired.  But it’s a good tired because the culmination of the week, the Vigil Mass of Easter, always makes it all worth it.
