Discerning To Serve

Discernment is a normal part of the life of someone who is trying to live the faith as completely as possible.  We constantly try to discern God’s will for us and, once we have discerned, we ask God for the grace to do His will.

This evening, some parishioners have begun a discernment process for the Parish Pastoral Council.  For three Sunday evenings, they will gather together to pray, discuss, and question.  On Pentecost Sunday at the 10:00 a.m. Mass, they will present themselves to the Lord and ask the Holy Spirit to choose four of them to replace the four outgoing members of the council.  They do this by placing their names on ballot papers.  A child is asked to draw four ballots from a basket and those four names are read at the Mass.

Please pray for those who are discerning a three year term on the Pastoral Council and pray, as well, for those who are leaving after serving three years.  Thanks so very much!
