A Peaceful Day

This morning started with a bit of a surprise.  The deacon  came into my office at 6:30 a.m. to tell me that our visiting priest hadn’t arrived for the 6:30 a.m. Mass so I went into the sacristy, vested up, and started the Mass.  I saw the priest outside the door a short time after I began.  He called later to apologize for not being there on time.  I was happy that I had the opportunity to celebrate the Mass for the 6:30 a.m. group and wish them a Merry Christmas.

After I did the 8:30 a.m. Mass, I ran several errands including going to the bank to deposit the money that I received from so many people at Christmas.  My parishioners are so very generous.  I also went to Great Clips to get a haircut that was long overdue.  My last haircut was in October before I left for my transatlantic cruise.

I met a parishioner for lunch and we chatted for a while.  I also went to my condo and took down my Christmas tree.  I’m leaving this coming Sunday for vacation and won’t be back until the week of January 14th so I thought I would take the tree down now instead of after I got back.

The rest of the afternoon I spent at the rectory relaxing since the office was closed for the Christmas holiday.  Tomorrow we open back up but I will be leaving shortly after the 8:30 a.m. Mass for my day off.  (Nice timing, eh? 🙂 )

It felt sooooo good to sleep ten hours last night.  I’m looking to a good night’s sleep tonight as well.  My Christmas weekend sleep deficit is almost made up. Yay.

With that, I’m off to bed.  g’night
