Shocked And Indignant

I couldn’t believe my ears or my eyes.

At 6:45 p.m., I got back into the house after locking and alarming the church post-Mass.  I went to my computer to catch up on emails and news.  It was then that I learned about the assassination attempt upon President Trump’s life.

At a rally, someone shot at him.  A bullet pierced his ear, killed a man behind him, and severely wounded two other people at latest count.

It was in the aftermath that I have lost what little respect I still have for the so-called mainstream media.  A couple of hours later, CNN was calling what happened an “event”.  They won’t even use the term attempted assassination.  There are some who were initially stating that they bet it was staged.  Still others lamented that the shooter missed.

What have we gotten to?  What have we become?  Is there any hope for us?  I would like to think so.

I’m leaving tomorrow after my two morning Masses for a week’s retreat.  I have a LOT of praying to do.
