I’m at St. Meinrad Archabbey for my personal retreat this week. I generally make my private retreat here each year. One of the imposing places is the main church. From the outside, it is quite grand. From the inside, it makes one feel so very puny.
It’s a great place to pray!
Like anyone else, I don’t always like living by mandates. However, the mandate in canon law to have to make a retreat on an annual basis is one of the best rules I can think of. It gives one the time to contemplate the great mystery of God and how we fit into that wondrous mystery.
