I arrived early for our Knights of the Holy Sepulchre stay in La Crosse, Wisconsin. I came in yesterday afternoon on my day off (my day off technically runs from Wednesday noon to Thursday noon). This afternoon, I joined a couple of parishioners for a ride on the La Crosse Queen Mississippi River Riverboat Cruise. It was an hour and a half of history and enjoyable weather.
After we returned, we got ready and met two other parishioners for dinner at Digger’s Sting restaurant in La Crosse. My, oh my, oh my . . . what a meal! I had the combo of prime rib and scallops.
It came with soup or salad. I had the beef barley soup. Out of this world. The dinner was accompanied by mushroom risotto and a side of fresh button mushrooms. Everything was cooked to perfection. And the prices? Half of what you would expect to pay back home. All in all, a real winner.
Tomorrow is registration for the conference and an evening get-together down the river close to where we boarded the riverboat. It’s going to be an Oktoberfest. Should be interesting. More tomorrow.
