Today was a “new day” for me. Yesterday, as you may remember, I took off to myself so that I could begin the process of recovering from the five days of our annual parish festival. (I know I’m getting older, by the way. I would not have needed to do that several years ago.) I did a lot of nothing yesterday, just a lot of inane things, and then went to bed early. It felt so good to hit the sack. I slept for ten hours, if you can believe that.
Today, it was “business as usual”. I woke up a little after 6:00 a.m. ready to go. I had the 8:30 a.m. Mass and then worked in my office all day. I had a building meeting with our contractor, engineer, and architect as well as other staff members and committee members at 4:00 p.m. We typically meet on Mondays at 4:00 p.m. but the contractor asked us to move it to Tuesday this week. With post-festival, I sure didn’t complain about the move.
At 6:30 p.m., I went over to the chapel to reserve the Blessed Sacrament. Every Tuesday, we have exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. At 6:30 p.m., we have a closing service and put the Eucharist away in the tabernacle.
When I finished that, I came back to the house and sat out on my back deck. I was listening to a very noisy neighbor (I have a bird house hanging on the deck and momma bird was complaining at my presence.) I also watched baseball practice and a game in the field right next to our yard.
Tomorrow, I am taking my day off and going to my condo in Michigan City. I haven’t been there for over a month and want to take the time to go and relax.
All in all, life is good. It is back on an even keel and going along at a pace I can handle. I probably just jinxed myself writing that but, if that’s the case, so be it.
