This sign was at the center of Noah’s Ark replica in Kentucky. From that vantage point, you could see all the decks upward as well as the skylights and the lofty ceiling. It really was quite impressive.
When I saw that sign, though, I was struck with another thought. How often do I “look around” or “look within” to try to solve my problems instead of looking up and petitioning the Lord? We say that we have to rely on God for all our needs yet, when it comes right down to it, we often fail to do just that. Instead, we attempt to rely upon ourselves and that, my friends, will get us nowhere fast.
If I take nothing else away from this week in prayer — and, believe me, I took away much more than that — I would say that the week was successful in that it helped to smack me in the face and reorient my relationship with God.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I haven’t quit trusting God. It’s not that I’ve given up on Him. It’s just that I do not go to Him as often as I should or go to Him first. I’m a very self-reliant person and that has been one of the thorns in my side in terms of my relationship with God. It has to be Him first and me second and not the other way around, as I often attempt.
I am so grateful that God is a patient God. If not, I would have been smashed like a bug already. 🙂
For the record, and for the public, written record to boot: Thank You, Lord, for a wonderfully prayerful week. I’m sorry for the time that I took off of you and put onto myself. I’ll try to do better. But I will only be able to do so with your continued infinite patience.
So let it be written. So let it be done.
It’s time to go home! It sounds as if you had a successful week, and I’m so happy for you! I hope what you experienced will give you the strength needed to carry on. I for one think you do a fantastic job, so don’t be so hard on yourself. Remember… God is a loving God. (Something I need to take to heart.) We are all glad to have you back!
