Simpler Days

“When I was a kid” is a phrase that often gets spoken by those who remember their youth and the “better days”.  But, you know, there is some truth to that.

When I was a kid, the world was simpler.  We didn’t have all these new-fangled electronics.  We rode our bikes, we roller skated, we played in the yard.  Life was simpler back then, less complicated and less anxious.

Nowadays, children’s parents worry about whether or not their summer programs will give the kids a leg up in college.  College?  Your kid’s seven.  Why are you even talking college prep programs for the summer?

Some things need to be simpler but I fear those days are long lost.
