God is the best repairman . . . by far!
I’m still marveling at the past weeks post-fall when I fractured my kneecap in four or five places. It really distressed me, if I’m being honest. I was wondering what was going to happen in terms of healing and limitations and the like.
This past Tuesday, since I was told I don’t need to wear the brace anymore and to take it easy, I have been doing just that: not wearing the brace and taking it easy.
The doctor told me I could do what I can tolerate and I have found that my body is quick to say what it will and will not tolerate. For the past five days, I have been working on stretching my muscles as they had begun atrophying since they were not in use for six weeks.
I would sit in my recliner when I got to the house and leave the foot rest down so that my leg would have to dangle at a 45 degree angle. When my leg would begin to whimper and say “uncle”, I would put the foot rest up and let my leg rest . . . for a while. And then it would go back down for more.
I have also been taking the stairs (careful to hold on to the bannisters) so that I could stretch the muscles. I have discovered that it is much easier to go up stairs on the bad leg than down them. But it’s going to go up and down as much as possible so that I’m ready for therapy next Tuesday.
Again, I marvel at the Maker-of-us-all who not only fashions us in His own image and likeness but who also has backup contingencies to help us heal. Thank you, Lord.
