Power Issues Again?!

This morning, I was in the condo when I heard some of my equipment clicking.  I went into my bedroom and saw some of the items trying to power on and then turning off and then nothing.  We lost one of the legs of our power in both of our condo buildings and, presumably, in the neighborhood.  NIPSCO stated that they didn’t know where the source was and that they would have things up by 9:30 p.m. this evening.  This was around 11:00 a.m.

Most of my plugs in my bedroom were out as were the lights in the master bathroom, bedroom, and guest bathroom.  With one leg missing, of course the air conditioning was out as well.  When I saw the problems, I turned off the air anyway so that the compressor wouldn’t burn itself up with only half power coming in.

I also had to move my refrigerator from one wall in the kitchen to the opposite wall because the opposite wall’s outlets had power but the fridge and oven didn’t have power.

I turned on the ceiling fan in my gathering space and got a big glass of water to keep cool and hydrated and I fretted and fumed and stressed.  It’s like, since August 11th, that I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and lose power again and these moments don’t help much.

Well, Christmas came early today — or, at least 9:30 p.m. did — because around 1:15 p.m. the power was restored.  I had to reset a lot of my equipment and devices.  And lo and behold, we had very little water pressure.  I called about it and we discovered that the water pump for the third and fourth floor of our building is not functioning.  I’m willing to bet that the motor burned itself up because it only had half power coming in.  So I showered in a dribble rather than in a nice, forceful shower.  I know, I know, First World problem.

I need to get away from her.  But when I do next week, I’m going to be afraid about what’s happening here.  This power stuff really has me anxious.
